Macon police officer arrested on disorderly conduct charge

A Macon police officer was arrested early Sunday and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, Warner Robins police records show.

Macon police Sgt. Dina Marie Rice and another woman, Kaylea Louise Austin, 21, were both charged with disorderly conduct (creating a disturbance) at 2:33 a.m. on Karen Drive in Warner Robins, according to arrest reports and the online daily crime bulletin.

Rice referred comment to her Macon attorney, Debra Gomez, who could not be reached for comment. Austin declined comment. Additional details about the arrest were not available.

Rice and Austin each posted a $150 bond and have a court date of Feb. 15 in Warner Robins Municipal Court, the arrest reports stated.

Macon police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said in an e-mail that there is an ongoing internal affairs investigation in relation to Rice’s arrest.

    Lets just say it can happen to the best of us. I have an exemplary discipline history of 8 years and allowed a horrific family situation to tear my career apart. Lesson learned, try to help a family member who doesn’t want helped, get burned.
