LOS ANGELES – Renee Noelle Gutierrez, 42, of Redondo Beach, pleaded guilty last Wednesday in United States District Court to a felony charge of having sex with an inmate. She worked at the Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc where here sexual relationship was uncovered.

During the time of the offense in April 2010, Gutierrez was a prison dorm supervisor responsible for more than 500 inmates. Once prison authorities found out about the relationship, she resigned her position at Lompoc. In August of 2011, Gutierrez was indicted by a federal grand jury.

Gutierrez is scheduled to be sentenced on March 26 by United States District Judge John F. Walter. As a result of the guilty plea, Gutierrez faces a statutory maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison but she is like to receive less than five years.

Five years for sex with an inmate while others who actually abuse inmates get promoted. She maybe should have been fired for misconduct but imprisonment for that is the real abuse.
