Victim in Officer Involved Shooting Dies at Hospital

WATTS (KTLA) — A man who was shot by a police officer during an altercation in Watts Thursday evening died has of his wounds.

At around 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Southeast division patrol officers were patrolling the Imperial Courts Housing Development and came across a group of young men believed to be gang members near the intersection of 114th and Grape Streets.

One of the men ran away from the group and was chased by an officer. According to police, when the young man turned back in the direction of the officer, he was holding a gun and an officer involved shooting took place.

The man was treated on the scene and taken to a local hospital where he later died, according to the LAPD.
