Trailer: Light Skin v. Dark Skin

How serious is the divide between light and dark complected black people? This division was created during the slavery era of the United States by white Europeans in the colonies. There were certain privileges bestowed to lighter skinned blacks by white society especially during the post antebellum period that certainly gave them an advantage to read, attend school, find employment, and assimilate into mainstream society. The “brown paper bag” test was a way that light skin blacks weeded out darker members of society into their social circles and this process was crudely administered by churches, civic groups, community organizations, colleges, fraternities and sororities.
At the root of this privilege was how much white blood did the average “negro” have and how physically visible ones whiteness was in their skin tone and hair. For some blacks, they were able to “pass” and gain full privileges as a white person. Langston Hughes wrote about this phenomenon in “The Ways of White Folks” in a chapter entitled “Passing” and this divide was apparently present in the early history of the black sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), when they favored lighter members over darker.
This issue has become the topic for a new DVD, set to be released in 2009 by Nico and Rob. Although the exclusion of darker toned blacks is not institutionally practiced today, the mentality that fostered this division during the 19th Century is certainly present today within the black community.

I haven’t heard of a DVD nor have I heard much talk about light skin and dark skin. There has never been any ill-feelings between light skin girls and dark skin girls when I was growing up. I have heard dark skin girls wish they were lighter and I’ve heard light skin girls wish they were darker. I’m neither light or dark and I haven’t wished to be lighter or darker. Some people say that
“in-between” Black people are somewhat immune to the LIGHT vs DARK.

WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND WORLD WIDE WHITE SUPREMACY, AND WHITE BEING THE RECESSIVE GENE AND IS THE RESULT OF ALBINOS. WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND THAT IN ANCIENT EGYPT WHERE IT ALL BEGAN VERY DARK SKIN WAS WORSHIPED AS IN THE TITLE OF OSIRIS YAHWEH BEING THE LORD OF THE PERFECT BLACK…..PRINCE HORUS THE HANDSOME BLACK CHILD OF INFINITE LIGHT !!!!!!!!!

Interesting theory….one based more on probabilities than facts at this point (which is far better than our alternatives; I feel this explaination of mankind is VERY VERY possible). But it’s interesting you use the word ‘white supremacy’ and associate ‘God’s’ with this theory. First off, this theory is based strictly on evolution, which seems to conflict with Biblical Tradition. Secondly, it suggest that our early dark skinnned ancestors rejected their albino/white counterparts hence their massive migration to the Caucasus Mountains, which suggest that ‘white supremacy’ was reactive to ‘black supremacy’
….my point is, at some point, every group of peoples has dogged somebody, or been dogged BY somebody….while education is good…selective education is counter productive. “worship dark skin” ??? worship black people??? worhsip white people??? if you understand there is a very strong possibility that we all come from the same lineage….than shouldn’t we just worship people?

It is often a surprise for people to learn that,
in reality, there is actually No Such Thing
As a “Light Skinned Black” person.
The term “Light Skinned Black” is really nothing more
than a racist oxymoron that was created by racial
Supremacists in an effort to forcibly deny those
Mixed-Race individuals, who are of what is referred
to as being a Multi-Generational Multiracially-Mixed
(MGM-Mixed) Lineage, the right to fully embrace and
to also receive public support in choosing to acknowledge
the truth regarding their complete ancestral heritage.
The people who have been slapped with the false label and
oxymoronic misnomer of “Light Skinned Black” person are
simply Mixed-Race individuals — who are from families
which have became and have remained continually
Mixed-Race throughout their multiple generations.
It should also be noted that no one is saying that having
a light skin complexion is the ‘only’ or even a ‘required’
proof of being of a continuously Mixed-Race lineage.
What is simply being said here is that it is just one
of the clearly-visible and openly undeniable forms
of proof that a person is of a Mixed-Race lineage.
Also — the legend of the existence of so-called ‘Brown Paper Bag’
Tests; ‘Blue Vein’ Societies; ‘Fine-Toothed Comb’ Tests; etc.–
have been PROVEN by multiple historians to have been (very much
like the infamous so-called ‘Willie Lynch Letter / Speech’ HOAX and the
myth of a Light-Skin ‘House’ / Dark-Skin ‘Field’ chattel=slave “heirarchy)
nothing more than a series of ‘Urban Myths’ and ‘Urban Legends’ created
in order to incite unmeried hostility toward people of Multiracial Lineage.
