Research on Gangs in Los Angeles

In this section I will post some of my research that was published in Territoriality Among African-American Street Gangs in Los Angeles that examined the proliferation of gangs in Los Angeles. It is 184 pages including 24 maps, 16 photos, and 21 charts and table. It reveals how gangs grew from 18 in 1972, 60 in 1978, 155 in 1982, to 270 gangs in 1996.

This manuscript is available at the Los Angeles Public Library in the Central Branch in downtown Los Angeles and the Echo Parch Branch. You can also read it at the university libraries of USC, UCLA, Cal State Long Beach and Nazareth College (Rochester, NY).
