Hi there, I have just watched a documentary on gangs in L.A. and i just wanted to say that, seeing what you all do everyday to try and turn children away from the paths that are thrown infront of them is absolutely astonishing to me. I am lucky enough to grow up in a place where gangs are not as serious for us as they are for so many other people everyday. I think that everyone needs to be aware of the problems too many families face and too many children are brought into. You are all amazing people.

    Hi Alex
I am an Inspector with the Police in Liverpool, England, and my role is to manage and disrupt the gangs in this area. I have recently set up a “women against gangs” in Liverpool, but I am looking to apply for a Fellowship grant to travel to meet women and other organisations who have been involved in working to help their sons, loved ones or members of their community to get out of the life of crime associated with gangs and guns. I have been reading an article regarding your work and I would like to make contact with your organisation to understand how you are working in your fight against gangs in the area. I would like to visit next year (if successful) to learn how your are working to stop the gun and gang culture and bring your best practices back to England. I would love to speak to some people who have been involved in this. I think it would be an excellent opportunity to pass information and ideas across the countries on how we can best fight against these gangs. If this would be possible, could you make contact with me please so I can include your organisation in my application and make the necessary arrangments. I appreciate your help with this and look forward to hearing from you

    Many thanks and regards

WHEN WILL PEOPLE START TO ADMIT, THAT GANGS ARE TERRORIST TOO?

    • Meshweida

I also feel that gangs are terrorist as well. They have organized crimes, weapons, leaders and the cash to do what they want.

  4. Gilbert Fernandez

I would like to say to people who out of ignorance call gang members terrorist, don’t know what they are talking about. That sort of response is a 911 fear response and an easy way to classify a group of people that before 911 were classified as a social problem. It is easier to hide the truth than to deal with it! just call it something different and the problem becomes some other departments problem. Lets get real here, if what these people say is true, then soon the church because it believes a certain way will be called terrorist too. the police departments of this country are considered gangs by the communities they were sworn to protect, and why is that? if you have never lived in a barrior or the ghetto you could never answer this question! the world is getting smaller and shoulders are starting to rub each other. And there are those in are world that want space. They are in high places and make decisions that affect all that we do in are every waking minute. So get used to the sound of gang member because soon if you are not part of that elite group of people you to will be part of a gang in order to survive. The name of that gang will be called poor america. And we will fight against Rich america!!!! WHO ARE WE NOW AS A PEOPLE? AND HOW FAR HAVE WE GONE? THAT WE WOULD CALL ARE CHILDREN TERRORIST. LETS FIX THE PROBLEM BY HELPING EACH OTHER AS HUMAN BEINGS. AND REMEMBERING THAT GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL IF HIS CREATION. WE NEED TO SEE HOW FAR WE AS A NATION HAVE FALLEN FROM ARE POSITION IN THIS WORLD.IF WE DON’T CHECK ARE SELVES SOON GANGS WILL BE COMMON PLACE IN OUR STREETS, EVEN BEVERLY HILLS HAS A GANG. MONEY FUELS THE GANG LIFE STYLE JUST ASK WASHINGTON D.C.

    • Little Loco

A good friend of mine was beat almost to death by 2 gang members. They tried to extort him out of 5 thousand dollars. They also threatened to harm his wife and daughters. WEATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT THESE ARE THE ACTIONS OF TERRORIST !!! Being almost beaten within an inch of your life HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS. I grew up in Southern California in an area infested with gangs…and guess what I chose not to join an organization that uses fear as a tool to achieve its means.
