Gang Member Indicted

Curtis L. Taylor

A 17-year-old gang member was indicted yesterday on charges of
storing illegal weapons at a Queens "safe house" and participating in
the August beating of a pastor during a church holdup as the
congregation watched, authorities said.
The 23-count indictment charged Kwang Park, 17, of 90-13 77th St.,
Ozone Park, with robbery, attempted robbery, burglary, criminal
mischief, aggravated harassment, unlawful imprisonment and endangering
the welfare of a child, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
Park and five men allegedly stormed the New York Taberah World
Mission Church in Flushing on Aug. 24, brandishing a machine gun and two
handguns, Brown said. The bandits then forced the pastor and some 50
worshipers to lie on the floor and give up money, jewelry and house
keys, he said.
Jeong Kim, 25, and Kay Kim, 18, both of 41-30 49th St., Sunnyside,
were also charged in the church robbery. Authorities were searching for
three other suspects, Brown said.
In a separate indictment, Kwang and four other members of the Korean
Flying Dragons Youth Gang were charged with storing two loaded
semi-automatic weapons seized Dec. 2, at his Ozone Park house, which was
allegedly used as a "safe house" for the gang, Brown said.
