LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT "Community Members Work With Police
to Identify Murder Suspect of Slain Juvenile" Los Angeles: On November 21, 2002, at
approximately 4:00 p.m., the victim, 14 year-old Clyve Jackson, was in front
of the McGee.s Donut Shop located in the 4400 block of South Western Avenue.
The victim was approached by a suspect and after an exchange of words and a
fistfight, the suspect shot the victim. The victim is not known to have gang
affiliations. However, the suspect is known as a member of a street gang.
The suspect has been identified as 17 year-old Antwain Butler of Los
Angeles. He was described having a light mustache and goatee. Los Angeles
Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the
scene. Over the past several days, the Department has repeatedly
expressed concern over the rise in violent crimes in the City; particularly
in the South Central Los Angeles Area. Los Angeles Police Department Chief
of Police Bill Bratton has pledged to combine forces with the community in
an effort to address this growing concern. True to form, the community has
responded and, as a result of their commitment to putting an end to the
senseless violence that pervades our neighborhoods, the Department has
identified the suspect responsible for the tragic murder of 14 year-old
Clyve Jackson. The Los Angeles Police Department is requesting the
public.s assistance in locating Antwain Butler. Butler should be considered
armed and extremely dangerous. A photograph of Butler is available at Media Relations
Section. 77th Street Homicide Unit Detectives are
