Tuesday, December 02, 2003 - LOS ANGELES (AP) - The man accused of killing the half-sister of Venus and Serena Williams was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on murder and firearm charges.
Yetunde Price was shot to death on Sept. 14 while sitting in a sport utility vehicle in Compton. Aaron M. Hammer has pleaded innocent in her death. Authorities have said he has ties to a street gang but is not a member.
Price, a 31-year-old registered nurse and beauty shop owner, was also a personal assistant to her sisters. The Williams sisters began their tennis careers in Compton before moving to Florida in their early teens.
Judge John Cheroske ordered Hammer, 24, to stand trial after a preliminary hearing Tuesday. A date wasn't set.
