Alleged gang leader's brother faces charges

GLENDALE — The brother of a man Glendale Police say has been involved with several shootings in the city has been charged with 55 felony counts, including credit-card fraud, money laundering and state tax evasion, authorities said Wednesday.
Michael Sharopetrosian, 31, of Valley Village, was arrested earlier this year, and was scheduled to be arraigned at a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Pasadena Superior Court. He will return to the courthouse Aug. 17 to enter his plea.
Sharopetrosian's alleged criminal activities have been connected to his brother, Arman Sharopetrosian, the alleged leader of a prominent local Armenian gang, police said.
Arman Sharopetrosian pleaded no contest and was convicted last week in Pasadena to 10 years in state prison for shooting at an occupied vehicle, possessing a gun, and assault with a deadly weapon for an alleged car-to-car shooting August 2001 in the 1000 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard.
