Teen Killed in Apparent Gang-Related Shooting

A 17-year-old boy was killed Saturday night in an apparent gang-related shooting, according to Santa Ana police.
Officers responding to a call shortly before 11 p.m. in the 800 block of South Minnie Street found Fernando Magana lying in an apartment complex stairwell with several gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Norm Gielda.
Paramedics pronounced Magana dead at the scene. Gang investigators were pursuing leads, but did not have a suspect in custody.
The shooting occurred in a neighborhood once known as the city's toughest that has undergone a civic revitalization in recent years.
