| PACOIMA - Police today were searching for suspected gang members who drove by an apartment complex, yelled "F--- Pacoima!" and fired shots from a pistol, wounding a documented 17-year-old Pacoima gang member and a 12-year-old boy who happened to be standing nearby.
The incident began at 11 p.m. in the 10900 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
The victims, both of whom were not identified because they were minors, suffered minor wounds. One was a documented gang member from Pacoima Brownstones and Crazy Boys who was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for wounds to the right elbow and side, then released. He told police he wasn't in a gang nor associated with one.
The other victim, a 12-year-old boy, who had been standing nearby, was hit by a bullet fragment and was treated for a wound to his right ankle, said Los Angeles Police Detective Dave Peteque.
No descriptions of the gunmen were available. Police said the only description they received of the vehicle was that it was burgundy colored with four doors, Peteque said. Police were frustrated at the lack of cooperation of witnesses - one of whom was the uncle of the 17-year-old victim - who told police he didn't see anything, even though another witness told police the man had been standing near the victim when he was shot.
"It's pretty bad when your own family member won't cooperate in the investigation," Peteque said.
