Teen stabbed near Anaheim High
By David Kelly
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
September 26, 2007
A 16-year-old Anaheim High School student was stabbed at a restaurant across from the school in what police say was a gang-related incident.
Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department said today that the teenager was eating on the patio of the small Mexican-food restaurant at Lincoln Avenue and Citron Street about 2:15 p.m. Monday when he was approached by two men.
"They come up and get into an argument with him and it escalates into a physical fight," Martinez said. "During the fight, one suspect pulls out a knife and stabs the kid in the back. They jumped into a car and fled westbound on Lincoln Avenue."
The teenager was hospitalized and is expected to survive, Martinez said. He called the incident "gang-related on both sides."
The suspects are described as Latino males. One is between 18 and 20 years old and the other is in his early 20s, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
