SANTA ANA A man died and a teenager is in the hospital after police said they were struck in an overnight gang-related shooting. Nobody has been arrested, Santa Ana police Com James Schnabl said. At 11:55 p.m. Saturday residents on the corner of Bristol Street and McFadden Avenue waved down Santa Ana police, telling them a shooting had just happened nearby, Schnabl said. When officers arrived at the corner of 1500 McFadden Avenue they found Jose Manuel Cervantes, 20, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Schnabl said. Nearby, lay a 15-year-old boy also suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics took both to a nearby hospital where Cervantes later succumbed to his injuries. The teenager, whose name wasn't released because he's a juvenile, is in stable condition at a hospital, Schnabl said. A preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting may be gang-related, police said. Detectives from the gang unit are investigating.
