On April 17, 2005 the Watt Khmer Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles hosted a festival celebrating the Cambodian New Year. A band played and people danced under a tent erected in the parking lot. At about 9:00 p.m., a fight broke out involving members of the Asian Boyz and Oriental Lazy Boyz street gangs. It is not known how the fight started, and witness accounts varied regarding how many members of each gang were present. During the fight, someone shouted, "AB" or "Asian Boyz," and two or three times someone yelled, "Oriental Lazy Boyz." Soperry "Baby Face" Chea was a member of the Asian Boyz. The victim, David Yang, was a member of the Oriental Lazy Boyz.
At some point during the fight, defendant ran out of the melee, drew a knife from his pocket, yelled out "what, what?" and ran back to the fight. Defendant beat Yang and stabbed him two or three times. He then walked away from the crowd and threw the knife over a fence. Yang's blood was found on the knife. Yang died at the hospital.
Dr. Solomon Riley, a deputy medical examiner, testified an autopsy was performed by Dr. Changrsi, who by the time of trial was no longer employed by the coroner's office. Dr. Riley testified he had reviewed the autopsy report prepared by Dr. Changsri. According to the report, Yang was stabbed three times. One wound was fatal and the other two possibly fatal. Dr. Riley opined that the wounds described by Dr. Changsri could have been inflicted by a knife like the one recovered at the scene or could have been inflicted by more than one knife.
David "Baby Face" Chea was convicted and sentenced to 18 years to life.

Van Nuys ABZ not Long Beach. It was Van Nuys ABZ who went to the LA OB Cambodian new year temple and killed the LA OB.
Babyface was part of the Asian Soldiers/Souljas crew from Valerio that got put on to Van Nuys ABZ early-mid 2000s.
From what I heard they went to LA OB temple and started throwing A up at the LA OB in their own hood. LA OB felt disrespected and it was on.
