Drop out Prison Gangs in California

Unread post by bumperjack » June 4th, 2014, 4:21 pm

Drop-Out (D.O.) Gangs have really existed for years. In fact, many prison gangs formed by splitting off from prior groups. The Nuestra Familia formed out of turmoil within the Mexican Mafia. Several NF were EME members or Associates prior to leaving due to EME abuse of fellow Mexicans. Drop-outs from the NF were called “Hermits” as far back as the 1970s. Many Bulldogs broke off from NF. There were at Folsom who were former AB and referred to themselves as “Brand Busters”, a mocking of “The Brand” (AB). The Nazi Low Riders had a rebel faction called “Fuck The Brand” (FTB), who mocked the power of the AB.

As more and more inmates went through the debriefing process and were considered Drop-Outs", they were released to "Soft Yards", or as they are called now in CDCR, "Sensitive Needs Yards". These groups became more formalized over the years. They had more structure, some rules, and a stable leadership.

The Independent Riders (IR) formed in the Riverside County Jail. In the summer of 2005, a group of drop-out gang members and, associates united to form a “Work-Out Group”. The beginning of the gang started at the Robert Presley Detention Center “Old Jail”, Housing Unit #19. This group formed the nucleus of the gang that became Independent Riders. IR members can be of any race. As the gang expanded in numbers, acts of violence began to rise against weaker protective custody inmates with sex crimes. The name “Independent” was derived from a popular skate board company logo. “Riders” meaning who they roll with in custody. They may also use numbers 918, 9=I, and 18=R.

The Pesetas/Pecetas are former EME or former Associates. Peseta is the Mexican term for a 25 centavo coin. They may use a 5 point star and Dallas Cowboys logo for “DC/Dos Cinco” or 25 in Spanish. They may also use a Mayan symbol of 2 dots and a bar for 5, a Black Hand (five fingers) with a 2 in it, etc. New Flowers may have a rose or flower covering up an NF tat or other symbols that once indicated membership or sympathy with the NF. Northern Ryders often have a Playboy Bunny symbol that may or may not have a 5 point star in the eye. They often have this symbol next to their former NR tat that once signified membership in Nuestra Raza. They may also just spell out “Ryders”. The individuals in these groups have not stopped their life of crime, they just cannot exist with members of their former prison gang since they often informed on them. But, they still engage in many of the same criminal activities. Drop-outs now far outnumber active prison gang members in California and will be a future problem.

GPS also teaches about Black gangs, Asian gangs, White Supremacists, and other Security Threat Groups. We have taught gang classes to many groups, including police, corrections, probation and parole officers, juvenile workers, schools, Job Corps, church groups, etc. if you are interested in our services. We look forward to hearing from you! Take care out there!

These groups are getting large reports say? and remember they put work in to get into these prison gangs! so there not to be tooken lightly...

That's what I heard, bumper. Half of California is in PC, they say. That SuperMaxDebriefingReturntoMainlineStuffinPC became a vicious circle. I am waiting for the day where the first Independent Rider goes to Pelican Bay for his gang membership. Or will they even build new SuperMaxPrisons for Drop Out Gangs?

I have heard that these drop out gangs are gaining momentum. I don't think that they outnumber active groups though! The last time that I was in prison was in the beginning of 2003. I did a 10 month violation in San Quentin. They definitely had an overflowing PC population. They put up a door on the 4th and 5th tier of Donner section so that they could house them in there with the rest of the GP. The front end of these 2 tiers was PC and the back end was GP. They were real noisy and disrespectful. At 10:30 PM program shuts down so that everyone can sleep and they would just keep on screaming well into the night, just to be dumbasses! They would threaten to read all the rules of the various prison gangs out loud. They would also get into arguments with GP inmates where they would call each other rats and pieces of shit! If you were not to aware they would try and get you to do transactions with them through "Fish Lines" and they would take your stuff knowing that you could not get to them, LOL! When it came time for them to have to shower, they would open the door separating them from everyone else and they would all run down the tier. The Shower is at the back end of South Block! They did this because they were afraid of getting speared and feces bombed! To funny, The Gunner would always position himself right there, so to do that would definitely be a suicide move on your part! Anyhow, The guards would actually bring them dudes out to Canteen every now and then with heavy escort of course. I used to work in Death row as a porter during that time. There is a canteen shack right in front of the EastBlock "Death Row" door! One time I was coming out and got to see them real up close and personal! There were about 50 of them there. One was from my Hood and I just looked at him in disbelief and shook my head! When I got out I asked certain people about him and sure enough he is no good now! Anyhow, as far as them outnumbering GP gang members, I doubt that! The first thing that happens to any new arrival is he is screened. They want to read your paperwork. Us Northerners also keep what is called the BNL or Bad News List! They ask you what is called the 7 on 7. You have to give your real name, Your Placa or Nickname, your CDC #, List all tattoos, Identify your hood, List all Pinta's that you have ever been to, and finlly give the yards and dates that you were there! This is then sent to the hole and checked against the BNL. They do this because they are trying to be accurate! People often times have the same name. It is not uncommon to have different individuals from the same hood with the same Placa if they are from different generations. They also pass your name around the fellas just to make sure as well. The list trumps everything! They cant hit you unless your paperwork shows as being a rat or sex offender or your name is on the BNL. If you are rumored to be no good though, they can send someone to give you a beat down which will send you to the hole. You will then come face to face with all the various shotcallers from each prison gang. From there you will be given an opportunity to be interrogated by them and state your case. In a lot of cases you will be given "Clean Up" which means you have to put in work to become good again! If you truly did something bad like ratted, or where a sex offender there is no coming back! "Clean Up" is only used as a disciplinary tool for minor cases! Most people who are Ratts or Sex offenders are already in PC in County Jail. When thy get to prison they simply ask to lock it up again! I can tell you from first hand experience that removals do occur. Usually in West block because that is where all new arrivals go first! Also, out on the yard a lot of removals occur! It is not to common though. That is why I doubt the statement that they are outnumbering GP inmates! Then again they could already be in PC before they hit prison, so I would have never seen them anyway! As far as Pelican Bay goes, they would not be there at all unless they debrief!

Good politics Silent in SQ they call it front bar or back bar because one bar opens the first 26 cells and back bar opens. the last 27 cells 53 cells on each tier in each block, you are correct only 25,000 on SYN yards and a estimated 150,000 gang members 10,000 validated gang members, but estimated gang related to prison gangs to some degree is really a lopsided veiw, the drop outs will never out number gang associates, affilated and or members this is CDCR reports,I agree you can only clean up certain things ,there is no cleaning up a sex offense or becoming a snitch or rat which is a gang drop out why they continue to gangbang after they become no good is beyond me the numbers are so large, and we lose track of time and numbers so I also refer to current numbers and reports by CDCR and they are really accurate,Its amazing how over the years how California grew so large, good feedback silent good info on politics alot of people dont understand the big house or Q San Quentin is our oldest prison in California and most or well known and famous prison in the California Prison system and up untill 1990 was a level 4 maximum security prison,I was in SQ when it was a Maximum Security prison Also was there in the old SHU program for a assault on staff the old SHU program was located in Northblock, the year 1986,very dangerous prison in them days as I can assure you, like the history and that prison surely has the most history also peace out all streetgang.com users with respect bumperjack
