    Toonerville Rifa 13 was formed in the 1930s in North East Los Angeles and South Glendale. Prior to taking the name of Toonerville in the early 1940s, the gang was known as the “Latin Souls.” The change to “Toonerville” came in the 1940s and named after the Pacific Electric Railway trolley that used to run through Atwater Village and South Glendale. The Pacific Electric Trolley was referred to by locals as the “Toonerville Trolley,” after the cartoon trolley featured in the Toonerville Folks comic strip.

    Many of the original gang members were friends and relatives from the city of Guadalajara, Mexico who migrated to the Atwater Village and Glendale areas. Even today some members can track the lineage back through to Guadalajara, Mexico.[citation needed] Toonerville or TVR 13 has a history of brutal violence and murder against enemy street gangs and the police.[2] One of the members, Timothy Joseph McGhee, was sentenced to death in 2009 for his role in three separate homicides. Additionally, he is suspected of taking part in as many as twelve murders in the Los Angeles area.[3] TVR 13 claims Atwater Village, Glendale, Tujunga and as its turf.[2]

    Toonerville has been around for decades.

    One man from our hood……. did not name himself the leader, the police and news journalist did. They gave him much more credit than he deserved. That was them not us. We are people from a hood that runs deeper than the deepest ocean, who now generations later overcame their struggles in life, poverty, challenges, and grew from our experiences. We are positive Individuals as well, some who were famous like Hector “El Toro” Lopez, Mr. Trigger (Mike Pebley), Johnny Avalos R.I.P Vietnam veteran that marched for veterans rights (google it), and many others. We are also teachers, served in the military, we are medical professionals, CEO’s of companies, and in our hearts lives Toonerville Rifa that’s what made us who we became. Its not just a hood its a familia and a way of life. For all you that doubt us, its because you fear us.
    For all of you that believe in us, its because you know the struggle. You know what its like to live through seeing many of your brothers or sisters live or go to prison. You know what its like to think your going to live because you have a gun pointed to your head and are told its your lucky day. You know what its like to have a car deep roll up in your hood and try to take your life. You know what its like to see drugs ruin your family and tear it apart. You know nothing in life can ever take away your dignity so you push forward and make a name not for yourself but for those who lived in the name of Toonerville Gang. Not a day goes by that we don’t think of those fallen brothers or sisters. Lives taken to soon, but its a life we chose. So in choosing those who survived must dedicate their success to those who didn’t. A hood is just a name or a game until you dedicate your soul to it. Not everyone has the heart nor will they ever. That’s what truly takes the villain’s apart from the rest. What’s your destiny haters?

    Toonerville was started by a white dude that lived in the barrio but had the respect of the latinos and was adopted as the leader, later a guy that was half white half latino ran the click but they were always tied to powerful gangsters in Mexico from what I have learned
