I was born and raised in the city of San Fernando, I am 45 and a former gang
member and a two striker. I work with juvenile delinquents and try to steer the
troubled youths away from drugs and the web of gang violence. I love my job b
because the children I work with are like family to me and I really care for them
and interacting with them. Helping them makes me feel good and very important
to me. I have been doing this job for 15 years and turned their lives around by
leaving the gang life, helping them graduate, getting them jobs, involved in sports
and off the streets. Before judging and criticizing others we should look first in
the mirror to see how we, ourselves, appear. You can also take a little time out to
give encouragement to someone who’s lost and help change, let’s try to motivate
them and stop being so ignorant, negative and most of all racist.
