Tariq Nasheed on Puerto Ricans not contributing, innovating or creating Hip-Hop (pt. 6)

February 18, 2023 | Street TV

In this episode, part 6, Tariq Nasheed discussed how Blacks (foundational Black Americans) are the sole creators and innovators of Hip-Hop and excludes any contributions that Puerto Ricans may have made during the 1970s and early 1980s.

When we talk about Hip-hop, its not just rapping, but also included and MCing, DJing, beatboxing, breakdancing, graffiti writing, fashion & clothing style which was BBoying, slang and language. Under the Hip-Hop banner, according to Tariq Nasheed, Puerto Ricans are only students of Hip-Hop.

Great conversation between Alex Alonso and Tariq Nasheed.
