LOS ANGELES – The 18th Street gang in Los Angeles, that dates back to the 1960s, has approximately 20 different neighborhood sets scattered throughout the County in the San Fernando Valley, Northeast LA, Pico Union area of LA, City of Cudahy, Inglewood and South LA. One of the smaller and lesser know varrios claims Broadway & 7th Street in downtown Los Angeles and have been there for over 20 years. This click is not a neighborhood gang by traditional standards, but more of a transitory group where members converge, meet, do business and socialize. They do not have a common territory or turf but operate within a small location that has low population of residents but high commercial population during business hours. On New Years morning I made a rare siting of their graffiti right on the southwest corner of Broadway & 7th Street.

18s used to be active in the 198o’s on Broadway and 7th Streets when the Arcades were there. They used to live in Units above the commericial Units on the Ground.
Downtown back in the 1980’s was run down with Drugs and Graffitti.
Down Town L.A has always been a gathering point for Gangs from South Central, East L.A, and surrounding areas, becasue of the Old Movie Theaters and Arcades.
