The grassroots activists who rallied to expose the prejudices against appearances, triggered by Trayvon Martin’s shooting death, aren’t sitting back this November. With the goal “to turn tragedy into triumph,” the organizers who wore hoodies in protest of racial profiling are urging the Hip-Hop community to participate in the upcoming election under the Hoodie Vote movement.

The non-partisan organization is encouraging sympathizers to show up at the polls in hoodies to cast their vote. The open source community has created a graphic design that can be printed locally on the garment of choice and donned on Tuesday, November 6. The logo has already been seen sported by Russell Simmon and Jasiri X, amongst others.

Hoodie Vote’s co-founder and national coordinator Trell Thomas told HipHopDX, “It’s another opportunity to send a message that while some thought we were robbing, killing, stealing, and looking ‘suspicious’ in our hoodies, we are out here working, making a difference, and changing the world in our hoodies.”
