LOS ANGELES – The City Attorney’s Office obtained court orders it hopes will restrict the activities of two of the most notorious gangs in South Los Angeles: the Bounty Hunters and the Rolling 60s Crips.

The permanent injunctions are the 15th and 16th imposed on Los Angeles gangs, and the eighth since City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo took office in July 2001.

“The permanent injunctions against the Bounty Hunters and Rolling 60s Crips include innovative restrictions designed to diminish criminal activity specific to each gang,” he said.

The gangs, accused of terrorizing the Watts and Hyde Park areas, already had preliminary injunctions in place against them.

The injunction against the Bounty Hunters includes a ban on associating in public with other members, loitering, blocking traffic and gambling in and around the Nickerson Gardens Public Housing Development.

Members of the Bounty Hunters are now barred from entering a “safety zone” bound by 108th Street to the north, Central Avenue to the west, Imperial Highway to the south, and the rail line of the Metro Blue Line to the east, and extending 100 yards outside those boundaries.

The order also places a slew of restrictions on certain Bounty Hunters, including a curfew and a prohibition against gathering in public.

According to the City Attorney’s Office, Watts-area residents were the victims of 585 violent crimes last year, and 282 so far this year, including homicide, assault, robbery and rape.

The order against the Rolling 60s Crips bars certain members from driving into rival turf.

Delgadillo said that approach should cut down the number of drive-by shootings and other forms of gang-on-gang violence.

The injunction also prohibits two or more gang members in one vehicle from entering a neighborhood claimed by any of five named rivals: The Van Ness Gangsters, the Eight Trey Gangsters, the Crenshaw Mafia, the Inglewood Family and the 62 Brims.
