Eastside Four Tray Gangster Crips [FTGC, 43GC, Fo-Tray] are an African-American street gang located on the Eastside of South Los Angeles in the old historic Central Avenue community where the Westcoast Jazz movement flourished during the 1940s and 1950s.
The Four Tray Gangster Crips formed around 1971 or 1972 as one of the first Crip gangs to break away from Raymond Washington‘s Eastside Crips and create their own specific identity. Along with the Avalon Gardens Crips, they are among the first gangs to form as Crips sets creating their own identity separate from the original EastSide Crips.
The first formed as the 43rd Street Crips during the early 1970s, and went through a few different name changes. For a short period of time they were known as the Four Tray Avalon Crips when they were close with the 53 Avalon Gangster Crips and they even had a short stint as the 43rd Street San Pedro Gangster Crips. By the late 1970s they simplified their name to the Four Tray Gangster Crips.
During the early 1980s, the Four Trays inspired the Third World drug organization, and were heavily involved drug trafficking when the rock cocaine hit the streets in 1982 and 1983. They were originally a car club influenced by Bertrain Jackson before they transitioned into cocaine dealing.
In 1979, a rivalry started with the 52 Broadway Gangster Crips after a football game at Gilbert Lindsey Park when Amos “Gangster Lee” Thomas was shot and killed.
Additionally they are considered the first “Gangster” set to form in Los Angeles.
They are part of the Four-Pacc alliance (4-Pacc) which includes three separate gangs, Four Deuce, Four Tray and Four Eight gangster Crips.
